Secrets of Sydney Aquarium’s SEA LIFE re-launch finally revealed

The impressive Lost City temple guardian in the 100 metre ocean-tunnel Shark Valley walkthrough.

Sydney Aquarium is flying the world-famous SEA LIFE flag this month as it officially reveals the results of a nine-month, A$10 million overhaul and opens its doors as the all-new SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

A spectacular A$5 million ocean tunnel walk-through, Shark Valley, takes pride of place among 14 newly themed zones, with over 70 exhibits, 700 different species, 13,000 animals and the world’s largest variety of sharks and rays.

The Merlin Entertainments Group’s SEA LIFE brand is globally recognised as a centre of excellence for marine management, education, interactive exhibits and conservation, all of which set the benchmark for the new activities and exciting exhibits, to be unveiled to the public on 24 September in the heart of Sydney at Darling Harbour.

This giant whale skeleton dominates the Shark Valley underwater display.

Visitors to the new SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium will journey through 14 areas, including the Tropical Bay of Rays, Discovery Rockpool, Mangrove Swamps, South Coast Shipwreck, Dugong Island, new Shark Walk and the stunning new ocean tunnel walk-through, Shark Valley. Don’t miss the iconic platypus, Little Penguins and the dugong.
